Thanks Sincerely Sarah >> Hi Sarah, I don't believe that they consider Surry County, Va as hill country, but I can guarantee that there are some in Surry County, NC, and there are certainly a lot of Long folks in Surry Co. NC and the surrounding counties. If you know where your grandmother died, you should be able to acquire a copy of her death certificate which should give information about her birthplace, and perhaps who her parents were.
