Researching the ancestors of William and Mary SIMMONS circa 1620. Simmons' Plantation is believed to be in the Surry Co state park compound. Specifically, William and son William II participated in Bacon's Rebellion that lead to the burning of Jamestown in protest against Gov Berkley oppressive taxation of property and tobacco resources. Descendents John and others appear in the roll of House of Burgess representing Surry and Isle of Wight.
