At a Court held the 24th day of August 1796 Surry County, Virginia Rebecca Sorsby, widow and relict of Stephen Sorsby decd: Benjamin Bilbro and Rebecca, his wife, Mary Lucas (widow), late Mary Sorsby, Coleman Harrison and Sarah, his wife, and Thomas Sorsby, Susanna Sorsby, Samuel Sorsby, and Stephen Sorsby, infants under the age of twenty one years by James Kee their next friend Complts: Against Archibald Davis and Elizabeth, his wife and the said Arch’d Davis Administrator of Stephen Sorsby deceased Respdts: The parties in this case having filed their Bill and Answer and the same being read, on consideration whereof it is decreed and ordered that James Kee, John Pettway, William Clinch Junior, Richard Ellis, and Thomas Ellis or any three of them do make partition, division, and allotment of the Lands whereof the said decedent died seized and prossessed , and assign over unto the said Rebecca widow as aforesaid, in right of her dower, one third part thereof, and after the payment of all just debts due from the estate of the said dec edent, that they also make partition, division and allotment, and assign over unto the said Complainant Rebecca one third part of the slaves whereof the said decedent died seized, and prossessed, to wit; Hall, Isaac, Frank, Cuffy, Young Frank, Davy, Cesar, Dinah, Sarah, Anna, Dennis, Phill, and Alexander, and also one third part of the the other personal estate- That they also make partition, division and allotment of the remaining two thirds of the Lands aforesaid between the Complainant Benjamin Bilbro in right of his wife Rebecca, Mary Lucas (widow) late Mary Sorsby, Coleman Harrison in right of his wife Sarah, Thomas, Susanna, Samuel and Stephen Sorsby, and the Defendant Archibald Davis in right of his wife Elizabeth; and after the payment of all just debts as aforesaid, that they make division and allotment of the remaining two thirds of the slaves aforesaid and other personal estate between the said Benjamin Bilbro, Mary Lucas, Coleman Harrison,, Thomas, Susanna, Samuel and Stephen Sorsby and Archibald Davis- And it is further decreed and ordered that the several claimants of the slaves and other personal estate do enter into a bond with security payable to the aforesaid Administrator, with condition that they will pay their equal proportion of such debts as may hereafter appear and be recoverable against him as Administrator aforesaid, and that the Commissioners aforesaid make return of their proceedings to the Court in order to a final decree. Ordered that the Session be adjourned till tomorrow morning ten O’Clock. The minutes of these proceedings being read, were signed, Willis Wilson (Stephen Sorsby, Jr moved on to Northampton Co, NC about 1811 or so and died there)
