Even if you can't use the names I've excerpted, you might find this sources to be good references. Sorry, I read books in libraries, so I can't do lookups. http://freepages.genealogy.rootsweb.com/~freshnup/markmurph/ Murphys in "Passengers to America", ed. by Michael Tepper Murphys in "New World Immigrants, Vol. I", ed. by Michael Tepper Murphys in "Cemetery Records of Marshall County Tennessee" by T.R. & Helen C. Marsh and R.D. Whitesell P.S. Do any of you Murphy researchers have much on this Richard Murfey, Merchant of London in late 1600s? This guy looks promising to my personal lines. -- Mark A. Murphy
Have a great grand father proved by surry county court records as serving as an ensin and later as a leut. in Ruffins Infantry of Surry County virginia during the years of 1798-1800. Can anyone shed some light on this Infantry. His name was Sim (Syme) Thompson son of John and Rebecca Thompson. Thanks Cecil

Someone in one or more of these groups has all the following problems: 1. You use Microsoft Internet Explorer 2. You use Microsoft Outlook for your email program 3. Your computer is infected with a nasty worm/virus called W32.Klez.gen@mm. W32.Klez.gen@mm is a mass-mailing worm that will send itself to all email addresses in your Microsoft Outlook Address Book, and you don't know about it. This person or persons need to go to www.symantec.com and get their computer cleaned. I am being bombarded by emails from address in your Outlook address book, all with enticing genealogical subject lines or messages, but the body contains the worm trying to attack. If you meet the first two conditions above, you should check for the third. Anyone else seeing this problem? I assure you this is not a hoax. We have a firewall/scanning software that catches all these, but I thought I'd make you aware because it is still happening. thanks -- Mark A. Murphy

I don't think that there has ever been any conclusive evidence that Mary, wife of Richard Blunt, was a Flood. I am also a descendant of theirs. Mary Flood was the daughter of Col. John Flood and his first wife Margaret_____ ( widow of William Finch). Col. John later married Fortune Jordan. Mary was married four times: 1. Richard Blunt; 2. Charles Ford; 3. John Washington; and 4. Henry Briggs Sr, m. abt 1661. Henry JR was born 1662. Mary died abt 1678-81. Henry had remarried by July 5, 1681 to Margery Gilliam, widow of John Gilliam. Please offer any information you might have on the BECKWITH family in early Surry Co, VA. A likely distant ancestor in Surry Co., VA, William HAWKES/HUX witnessed the will of John COLLIER in 1732. John was likely married to Grace LUCAS reportedly the daughter of William LUCAS and Grace BECKWITH. Are you familiar with the inter-relatedness of the COLLIER, LUCAS, HUX, HAWKINS, BECKWITH, BRIGGS, FLOOD and REEKES families of this period? Thank you, Robert L. Hawks Bozeman, MT<< Grace Beckwith Lucas was first married to Martin Johnson of Surry County, from whom I descend. When Martin died, Grace married for a second time to William Lucas, and did produce another whole family, among whom was a Grace Lucas. I do not have any data on her in my genealogical program. I do know that her sister, Elizabeth Lucas was married to a Henry Briggs, Jr., son of Henry Briggs, Sr. and Mary Flood. I am not sure how Mary fits into the Flood family, but I suspect that it was through the Creed family. Marmaduke Beckwith, father of Grace Beckwith, was married to Maudlin Creed, daughter of Raphael and Grace Creed. Maudlin's sister, Mary, was wife to John Flood of Surry County, VA. This is perhaps the Flood connection of the younger Mary Flood who married Henry Briggs, Sr. The interesting thing about the Creed daughters is that I descend from Maudlin Creed Beckwith; my wife descends from Mary Creed Flood.
