"Some wills from the burned counties of Virginia and other wills not listed in Virginia wills and administrations", by William Lindsay Hopkins, 1987 p. 104 Nansemond County Abel Savage 7 May 1838 Son Whitmill Savage land bought of Abram Riddick. Grandson Lucuis Napolian Savage, son of David D. Savage. Son Oliver P. Savage. Daughter Mary Savage (under 21). Daughter Tracey Savage (under 21). Son-in-law Robert Pearce and his sons, David Pearce and Richard Pearce. Wit: John Harrell, John Savage, Caleb Savage. (At bottom of this copy ..."left to me by my father Luther S. Savage, who was son of Oliver P. Savage". Signed: Hannah Savage Brown of Hertford Co. NC) A Nansemond Co. deed with the will of Abel Savage dated 8 Dec 1800 between Caleb Savage, Sr. and his son, Abel Savage, describes the 100 acres as adjoining William Precious, Edward Pierce adn Bennett's Creek.     2. Hello All, Below is the obituary for my g g grandfather George Acrile Savage. He was born in Edgecomb co, NC to James H. Savage/Savedge (b. @1810 in Surry Co,VA) and Catherine Barfield (b.@1815 not positive if NC or VA yet) who married in Tarboro,NC. I love to hear from those who have connections to the names listed, and there are quite a few. Audrey Obituary: Mr. George A. Savage, died at his home in Roanoke Rapids Wednesday morning May 31st 1916, at the age of 69 years, 9 months and 8 days. He had been ill for some ten weeks. From the first he did not expect to recover. All necessary arrangements for his burial had been made by him some time ago. Mr. Savage was twice married, first to Miss Sarah Phillips, who preceeded him to the grave many years ago. By this marriage there were six children, Mrs. Nan Daughtry; Messrs. John Savage, George Savage of Norfolk; Mrs. Bettie Spivey of Fairmont: Mrs. H.M. Faison, and Mrs. Mamie Ivey, deceased. Miss Catherine Robbins, who survives him, was the last wife and she has two children, Mrs. R.M. Hudson and Richard (Acrol) Savage. The funeral services were held at the Methodist Church Thursday afternoon by Rev. Geo. S. Bearden. The interment was at the city cemetery. Out of town relatives attending the funeral were: Mrs. T.B. Gunter, Mrs. S.B. Alsop, Miss Mary Savage, Mrs. R.C. Mulliken, Miss Pearl Brown, Miss Iola Cook, Miss Ellen Wallace, Claude Sykes, J.W. Hardy, Dorsey Hardy, Joe Hardy, and Master Robert Ivey of Enfield; Johnny Hudson, mother and sister, Miss Bessie Hudson of Littleton, Mr. and Mrs. Stephen Shadrach Spivey and son Leonard, George Robbins, Mrs. J.B. Bell of Fairmont, George Savage, Jr. of Norfolk, Miss Kate Savage of Scotland Neck, Mr. and Mrs. J. W. Stansbury, Miss Estelle Ivey of Aurelian Springs.
