I see a John and William listed as being in the Lancaster Co., Orders, No. 6, 1713 - 1721 reel 27 at the Library of VA, both on page 320. Also, I see a Thomas, New kent, The Vestry Book of St. paul's parish 1706 - 1786 (book by CG Chamberlayne) page 267 & 270. These are all that I see in the wonderful TLC Genealogy publication of "Virginia in 1720: A Reconstructed Census". good hunting, Jeannie

From the will I have the following names - sons John, Nathaniel, William, wife Sarah, and if I understand the wording of the will correctly John Barlow the will writer was a son of an earlier William Barlow. Thanks Sincerely Sarah >> Hi Sarah, I don't believe that they consider Surry County, Va as hill country, but I can guarantee that there are some in Surry County, NC, and there are certainly a lot of Long folks in Surry Co. NC and the surrounding counties. If you know where your grandmother died, you should be able to acquire a copy of her death certificate which should give information about her birthplace, and perhaps who her parents were.
