Peyton seems to be a distinguished name, particularly in Northern Neck Virginia. When I am somewhat stumped about a family, I go surfing--on the LDS website. I access the FHLC (family history library catalog). The URL: www.familysearch.org The link to the catalog is on the lower right. When the time comes, choose Surname. Type in Peyton. My search came up with 42 hits of family histories which mention Peyton. The catalogers, I am told, take the five most prominent families mentioned in a family history and catalog those surnames. Look up at the top of the screen and see if there is a tab "View Film Notes." The family history you seek may have been filmed. If it has not been filmed, go to your local LDS center and ask how you can get some photocopies of the indexes of the books you seek (these come from Salt Lake City).
