Hello, I'm hoping someone has some knowledge of two names from Stafford. They are both listed on the 1850 St. Census as follows: John COAKLEY, 44, china merchant Eliza , 40 Mary, 12 Virginia, 4 Daniel S. COAKLEY, 43 Susan, 38 John F., 14 Margaret, 9 Susan L., 7 Maria E., 5 ?(can't read) female, 3 Does anyone know who these two COAKLEY's are? What are their wives maiden names? Who were their parents? Hope someone can help. Anne
This is just a thought...there were Colclough families in Stafford Co., Va in the 1700s and I understand that the surname is pronounced COKELY / COAKLEY. Could your John and Daniel be of the Colclough family that I am working on? In records from England there is a reference to this family being in the china business and producing Colclough China.
