No, I'm sorry that I don't know who Arthur's parents were. This Dickerson line was one that married into our Armstrong line. Dear Alyce, That is a beautiful story. Thanks for the information, I did have family that went to that church as well as buried there and I never knew. I grew up in Virginia and now live in Arkansas, 3 years ago I went to Aquia with my parents and husband and the church it self was closed. Next time I go, I'll know to make sure to go in. Thanks Lorri ________________________________________________________________ GET INTERNET ACCESS FROM JUNO! Juno offers FREE or PREMIUM Internet access for less! Join Juno today! Is anyone familiar with the surname SPICER? If you have any information to share would appreciate it. June
Just a note: I was watching all of the stuff about aquia church last year with much interest and wishing i had any reason to have people there so i could go and see it!! Guess what, last October on my very first trip to Virginia ( made by car) my friend accidentally happened upon this church and I said, "Oh i just have to stop and see it!!" WE did, and we found it open being cleaned by some very nice parishioners there who gave us a very nice run down of information about the church. It was indeed quite pretty and i asked about the different heights of the pews around the church and why some of them seemed to be built in box form instead of in rows. Guess, the answer!! The church was taken over by the union forces in Civil War and was utilized as a stables. THe frequent bombings in the area made the horses so nervous they chewed the wood pews down quite a bit!! When it came time for the war's end, there was no money to refurbish the pews so they were just sawed off to match each other and they remain so today!! What a beautiful story!! Just thought i would share that one incase you have relatives who went to church there for years and you have no chance to go there yet! Dear Cathy, I think we have been in contact before, all but Marion and Buck are buried at Aquia Cemetery in Aquia, Stafford Co. It was told to me by family and at least one person from Aquia Cemetery a few years ago that all the Dickerson's buried in that cemetery as well as in the Aquia, Widewater, Stafford are all related. I have been in contact with Pat Phillps and I think she has linked her family in with yours and mine. We are related thru Buck and Marion Dickerson. I have been in contact with another cousin Dan Dickerson that rumor has it that there are 2 different Dickerson clans from the Stafford area, but from what he was told they aren't related and there is something there that the 2 families are trying to hide. but ?????? would love to hear from ya again and share information. till later Lorri ________________________________________________________________ GET INTERNET ACCESS FROM JUNO! Do anyone have any records of John de la Pryme (Primm) or his son John Primm? John de la Pryme was born in England about 1715 and died in Stafford County, VA in 1780. He married Margaret Welch 9 Sep 1739 in Stafford County, (Register of Overwharton Parish). They had four sons: William, James, Thomas, and John. John was born 17 May 1750 in Stafford, married Elizabeth Handsbrough, daughter of Peter hansbrough and Lydia Smith, 9 Oct 1777 and served in the Revolutionary War. They had seventeen children and moved to St. Clair County, Illinois in 1802. Most of what I know is from the Overwharton Register. Does anyone have any further references to this family? Any help would be appreciated. Harold Mitchell

Debbie, Do you have a Beulah Shelton in your line? My aunt was Beulah Virginia( I think ) Shelton from Falmouth, Stafford Co. Frank Pyle
Amaryllis, I don't know if I contacted you before or not but I have photos of Raines graves at Brea Baptist church on route 17 out of Falmouth in Stafford Co. Actually its one photo -- Arthur J. Raines, Mabel B. Raines and Walter J. Raines born in the late 1800's. If you are interested I could mail you the photo. No charge. Frank Pyle
Debbi Shelton and Troy W. Bowie: The second child of Henry Milstead and Sally Fendall Bell Milstead is J. Shelton Milstead born in November 28, 1851 in Prince William County, VA. At that time I think they lived on the north side of Chopawamsic (sp?) Creek across from Stafford County. J. Shelton died on August 2, 1939 and is buried in Pohick Church grave1-G-4. Given the usual practice of given a last name of relatives as a middle name in later generations, I assume he is related to your Sheltons. In the same way, my mother's middle name was Bell, after Sally Fendall Bell, her great grandmother. Sally was a child of Jane Adie and John Fendall Bell. Do you have any ideas on the relation between them and the Sheltons? Charlie McNett
