Peyton seems to be a distinguished name, particularly in Northern Neck Virginia. When I am somewhat stumped about a family, I go surfing--on the LDS website. I access the FHLC (family history library catalog). The URL: www.familysearch.org The link to the catalog is on the lower right. When the time comes, choose Surname. Type in Peyton. My search came up with 42 hits of family histories which mention Peyton. The catalogers, I am told, take the five most prominent families mentioned in a family history and catalog those surnames. Look up at the top of the screen and see if there is a tab "View Film Notes." The family history you seek may have been filmed. If it has not been filmed, go to your local LDS center and ask how you can get some photocopies of the indexes of the books you seek (these come from Salt Lake City). Good luck in your search for Peytons. E.W.Wallace

Is there a tax roll or something that somebody could find, and check out all the families that were in the area of the Silver Project? And then ...uhhmmm lemmee think....... search all the gedcoms in Rootsweb, write all the Lists with those surnames? I don't know how the consultants did their research, but they didn't find the Reveleys. I'm thankful to have the opportunity to find my family. I just want to make sure everybody else finds theirs if they are out there. YEEEEEEEE HAAAAAAAAAAHHHHH! This morning someone gave me the developer's email address. Today I spoke with him, after he had a chance to read my email and digest the documentation. He was very cooperative, said they would do their best to find it, and would have their consultant review my deeds. (A Williamsburg based archaeological firm performed deed research, conducted visual inspections of the entire project and performed a Phase I archaeological survey on over 1/2 of the 1400 acre project...........they did identify two 18th-19th century farmsteads in the vicinity of Banks Ford and "Gravelly Run", however, the Phase I archaeological survey did not turn up any evidence of burial sites.) They would protect it, not relocate it. I told him we would be happy to help them look, I could catch a plane tomorrow. I also told him that the Sons of the American Revolution, the Daughters of the American Revolution, and about 50 people from the Lists were ready to search, in addition to the Reveleys in Virginia and the State of Virginia Historic Resources Department. "Lists?" So I explained. ;-) I also received a letter from a fabulous lady on the Stafford List who has been photographing and documenting the area just because of her sense of history, and she walked the site today, found the boundaries described in the deed. No cemetery, but remember, it is on 144 acres. Over 200 letters of support from y'all are in my hip pocket. I thank you, and all of the Reveleys at Woodend thank you. Cheerios, Sarah

I'm glad the info was of help to you! Let me see if I can answer some of your questions: According to Therese Fisher's abbreviations, * OM - Orange County Marriage (usually a minister's return) * STMR - Stafford Marriage Record Book at the Stafford County Courthouse * PCF - Presbyterian Church in Fredericksburg Thrush is more commonly referred to as a yeast infection or an overgrowth of yeast. The term is usually assoicated with an oral yeast infection. Sometimes it can get out of control, especially if the person has a lowered immune system. Also, if you have corrections, I would love to have them, as I can post them next to the information on the Stafford County, VA GenWeb, and I will credit you with the info. Again, glad I could assist. I appears Selden Benjamin Raines and Margaret E. had five children: * Mary E b.1852 (married Thomas Murray in 1872) * Twins, Lucy A and Ann S (who died in 1854) both born 22 Feb 1853 Lucy married Benjamin Black of Culpepper Co.in 1878 * Robert T. b. 10 Mar 1855 (married Julia Willenbeucher, 1886 * Adelaide V. b. 1865 married Charles Frazier in 1887 Other records seem to indicate big family of Raines' including Rowzee, John (or James) M,, Benjamin, William Benjamin, J. M. (Wife Louisa F.), etc. Are any related? This is a real help, and any infor from the list on any of these would be appreciated. Questions for Hollye: * There are minor errors in the records listed. This may be in the source documents. Are corrections desired (I know this list is compiled by Therese Fisher?) * What does abbreviation PSF mean? * What does abbreviation STMR mean? * Thrush is listed a cause of death. What is thrush?? Again, Hollye, MANY THANKS!!! Can rest of list help now?? Best Wishes!!! Tim Raines
Go for it, Sarah. Your children and their children etc. will love you for it. Bill in Orlando
I have hit a dead end. I can go back to Selden Benjamin Raines, B. 1810 in Stafford, but have no infor further back. Possible was part of larger family with brothers Rowzee & Adam?? Had a son Robert T in 1855 who moved to Fredricksburg and was a miller. Selden apparently a farmer. Can anyone help with linkages?? Best Wishes!!! Tim Raines
From what I've been told, the laws of Virginia would be on your side. Have you contacted the DAR so they can have a plaque placed on your ancestor's gravesite ? Your Revolutionary War Patriot might save the day again. What development company is involved ? Is it foreign owned ? Have you subscribed to a pre-paid legal service ? Just a few thoughts....~malinda ----- Original Message ----- From: "Sarah Reveley" <sreveley@grandecom.net> To: <VASTAFFO-L@rootsweb.com> Sent: Saturday, June 22, 2002 2:55 PM Subject: [VASTAFFO-L] Need your help saving the Reveley Cemetery > Woodend, the family homestead in Stafford County,Virginia, has been located. Woodend, the family homestead in Stafford County,Virginia, has been located. Woodend became the Greenbanks farm, and now, unfortunately, is owned by a development company and is about to become a part of a golf course/ super mall . I have no reason to believe that the Reveley burying ground is not still there. Thomas and Elizabeth, William, and our Revolutionary War soldier Francis are buried there, as well as others. There is a deed referring to the "will of Wm.
