Interested in these families from Stafford Co. Regards, Beverly Reach Perry Huntsville, Ala.
I very much appreciate the information Valerie Thomas put on the Stafford list re William and John Allen. Just last month Colonial Dames of the XVII Century approved my application for membership on the strength of my lineage from William Allen. I had not known of the importation of William Allen by William Beach, but I will be in Stafford County the week of 7/15 and will look up the pertinent certificate. Having visited the Court House a couple times previously I know they will not photocopy anything that early, so it may take a trip to Richmond to the Library of VA. Anne Rodick
Looking for Tolson, Brooks Looking for Lawson Brooks b. about 1815 in Stafford, married Sallie Snead about 1845 in Stafford. She was born in 1825 in Fluvanna Co. There children were Ann, Letishia Barnett, John, Morgan. Only have information on Letishia who had a common law marriage with Jacob Dickinson. All her children were given the Brooks Name to save faith in the Community. Her son Theodore Snead Books Sr. married Katies Warrick Tolson, any help to find these Brook's family from Mytle Grove would be a big help Thamks Cathy
this sterne family is tied in with the tolson family. Cathy

Hi Suzanne: my e-mail is gu6225@telocity.com. Please send me yours, too. My brick wall is my Benjamin Hall, heir of John Hall circa 1778. Others and I believe he was the son of John Hall and Rebecca Coleman married 1745 in Agingdon Parish, Gloucester Co. Va. He also was spoken as "of Ware Parish". There are no extant records of Ware and not many of Gloucester. Benjamin first appears in halifax abt. 1765, witnessing a deed, then a couple of years later buying land that was situated among families whose wives and mothers were Colemans from Gloucester County. If you have ever run across Benjamin and his family or John and Rebecca Coleman Hall, please let me know. thanks, Grace Hall Upshaw -------Original Message------- From: Suzanne Shephard Date: July 05, 2002 02:21:17 To: VASTAFFO-L@rootsweb.com Subject: Re: [VASTAFFO-L] William Payne | Eliza Brown Grace, my Coleman line descends from Robert Coleman, b. abt 1620 in Elgland, married Elizabeth Grizzel in Essex Co., VA abt. 1650. What a great idea Sarah.... Since so many of these folks tended to travel/migrate as a community, the same strategy could be used to track the ones who moved en masse to other areas, i.e. North Carolina, TN, etc...Records and cemeteries could be indexed and/or gathered up for them all. Since I subscribe to lists that deal with folks as far back as GEN-MEDIEVAL-L and OEL (Olde England list) in addition to various VA and NC lists, I continually see many of the same surnames on all the various lists. I've come to realize that bumping up against a brickwall can often mean you've found the person who either emigrated out of or immigrated into another area (the ones who just landed by spaceship). Identifying the first date a family appeared in the records, as well as the last appearance can further help to isolate when the migration happened. If known neighbors and/or friends and relations removed to a known location....that's a good spot to look for your own people who suddenly "dropped off the face of the earth". When www.rootsweb.com is back up and running, a periodic site search is a good thing to do. Happy hunting....~malinda ----- Original Message ----- From: "Sarah Reveley" <sreveley@grandecom.net> To: <VASTAFFO-L@rootsweb.com> Sent: Thursday, July 04, 2002 12:02 PM Subject: [VASTAFFO-L] Neighbors in Stafford County > Hi all, I have a plan....but I have no idea if it is a new one or not....... > > Would it be possible for all of us to go back thru our family trees and list our lines by years and locations?
