I read all that comes through and learn much. Last week I was at the DC DAR library. They have a wonderful and large collection of books about Shenandoah and families therein. I could not stay long, but will return next week to do more research. I am looking for Oglevies. I know that they were in the Shenandoah area in the late 1700s starting in about 1770. My Mother is an Oglevie and I go back about 5 greats to George and his father James(?) we think. His dad could be Robert. I know that George was indentured to George Huddle when George O was about 8. The Poor District #1 record says that George O was an orphan and his father was Robert. (I'm not certain yet that this is my George.) My family records say his father is James. I have looked at Huddle, Hottle and similar records. It looks like they were a big family, at this time, in and around the Woodstock, Mt. Olive, Strasburg area -- the upper Forest. I also have records from Shenandoah that show George O was married to Cathrine Nichiser in 1821, but no parent or location information. I have seen some additional information about Nichiser. They had 8 children. The first three, Margaret, James Robert, and John F, were born in the Shenandoah area. The family then moved to IN and on to IL then Iowa. There is some evidence that George, and or his dad, had siblings in the Shenandoah area. I also have a record that Nancy Oglevie m. William Bushong in 1821 (Not my George's dau.) and the Bondsman was James Oglevie. Was a Bondsman always a father, if there is a father in the area? I have a record that James Oglevie m. Sarah Barr in 1813. This too, is not George O child James. Anyone on this list know anything about Oglevies (Scotland), Nichiser, Barr, or Bushong of Shenandoah? Thanks for even reading this and more thanks if you can tell me more. I will be happy to share details of what I have. After this my messages will be shorter. Clark Clark D. Rogers Pittsburgh, PA
