Lena, If that's right about road measure, the Burnshire Dam - Overlook road (And, in my opinion, it's still not a road - more like a luge track without any safety features) must have been used, or there must have been another way into the Fort. You have to be able to reach Isaac Overall's place in 12 miles. At the moment, I'm not trying to figure out exact roads, just the general principle used in assessing the distances. But, the point about the gage on the wheel is a good one since that would rule out bridle paths like the one north of Kennedy's Peak. Where did you find that? For now, I'm only interested in the map that shows both counties on pp 6 & 7.
