Hi Tom, I believe the Fort to Milford road is a trail now. This is from the original atlas. The explanation box on page 6/7 has " Distances on Roads in Rods" and under the Name of Map on page 6 is the remarks, " 2 miles to an inch" But I forgot...you have a different book,, Sorry. How about photo copy just that section and enlarge it to the measurement 25 inches x 14 5/8th. This is a double page map. Border to border and the border is 1 inch to lighter line inside. I go to Winchester's photo shop that will do this. I am sure there is such close by for you to use. A rod is a linear measure equal to 16 1/2 feet or 25 links: also called a pole or a perch. Lena
Lena, Thanks. I had thought of the enlargement idea but the copy places here will not do it because of the copyright law. I have argued till I was blue in the face that material like this is OK because of limited portion, research, etc, but they won't take the chance. For now, I'm OK. I'll use Bixler's Ferry as a base datum and space everything off that. That works since I only need locations between Sandy Hook and Alma for right now. But, at some point, I need to look at getting a copy of the other Atlas.
