I am seeking the parents and places of birth of John Griffith and his wife, Catharine (maiden name not known). Also very much interested in their origin before coming to Shenandoah (present-day Page) County, Va., in the mid 1780s. John and Catharine Griffith arrived in Shenandoah (now Page) County around 1784. He and his son-in-law, John Valentine (wife Mary), jointly purchased property near Hawksbill Creek in Oct. 1786. He later sold this property and purchased land on Dry Run, located southeast of present-day Luray, where he died in 1820 and Catharine in 1824. Besides Mary, other children were David, John, William, Sally, Rachel, Elizabeth (m. John Rickabaugh), Nancy, Eleanor and Catharine. Joe Baker
