It's already a zillion sticky degrees here in Wales, Wisconsin, where the barns will get air-conditioning long before the houses ever do.......that said, please excuse my going-around-in-circles searching for my family connections & answers. I've gathered the information below of my gggg-grandfather Samuel CLAYTON, jr. born abt 1764 in Culpeper, Culpeper Co., Va. He might have met his wife Catharine PRICE while visiting his Aunt Lucy (Clayton) WILLIAMS's family in Woodstock. I know his cousin Philip Williams b. abt 1766 who married Sarah CROUDSON, 15 Oct 1791, in Shenandoah Co., was Clerk of Shenandoah County Court for a time. I know absolutely nothing about the PRICE family and there are any number of Wm. PRICEs in the neighborhood. Does anyone connect to this PRICE family? Would also love to know what the headings were of the columns on the 1790 Tax List for Shenandoah County; the top is torn off my copy and I know the headings differed in those days from county to county. I'm not sure my Sam actually owned land in Shenandoah County and am wondering if these numbers are horses (or billiard tables<g>) It looks like my Sam sold his stuff to his brother Philip in 1792 and then moved on to Bourbon Co., Ky that same year, but I'm sure the WILLIAMs family remained. I'm wondering if any of Sam's children returned & remained. There is a Nancy CLAYTON (1802-1895) who married a Joseph MILLER, 4 Feb 1833, in Shenandoah County. I'm wondering if she is one of Sam's kids, or a maybe a CLAYTON from his Grand-Uncle Sam Clayton's line out of Frederick Co., Va. I'm going to stop going round and round now and go put a cold cloth on my head. Any help would be so appreciated.
