Exactly what does the Capt.-1 stand for? I found that beside two of my Henry names and one of them is a female so it doesn't seem to make sense that it would be a military title. -----Original Message----- From: Joyce Franke [mailto:rjfranke@worldnet.att.net] Sent: Tuesday, September 16, 2003 12:30 AM To: VASHENAN-L@rootsweb.com Subject: [VASHENAN] HUPP in tax records Sherry has so nicely given us these tax records. I see a John HUPP in 1793 as a captain of what exactly? John is not my ancestor, but his brother, Samuel, is, if this is the right family!
