Lewis supposedly emigrated from Maryland, and I have not been able to find from where; or who his parents were. I did not find him in the 1850 census in Shenandoah County. So, I am not sure if he came to Virginia alone, from Maryland, or from another county in Virginia. Seems like I had better dig a little deeper. . I was aware that two children had died. I did not know four had. Thank you so much for taking the time to look these up for me. I really appreciate it. In Borden's book of marriages, it says "consent of father" in writing. You should be able to find both on the 1850 census living with their parents. Have you tried that? The 1850 census is the first census to list all members of the household. They were married May 18, 1852 in the Shenandoah Valley. I was just hoping if someone could read the record of it, it might say where either of them were from, or who the parents were. Thanks for any help. Carol ==== VASHENAN Mailing List ==== Shenandoah Co VAGenWeb http://www.rootsweb.com/~vashenan/vashenan.html
