    3. Hi: How are you related to the Reynards? My great grandmother was a Reynard, a daughter of Elanson of Shenandoah County. She married a Downey. I have been researching them off an on and am kind of stuck with his (Elanson's) father. I live in Edinburg VA. Thanks Judy. ----- Original Message ----- From: "Wilmer L. 3. Dear Judy, My ancestor was Rebecca Reynard, born in Shenandoah County on Nov. 29, 1795 and died in Rockingham County on July 1, 1887. She married Abner Canada (1796-1874) on Sept. 13, 1820 in Rockingham County. I believe that Rebecca's father was George Reynard (signed her marriage license) I am not able to retrieve the file just now, but from memory, he was born in Pennsylvania; came to Shenandoah County and raised a family. Although not absolutely proven, I believe that he was a brother of several Rineharts who settled in Hampshire County. All of the Reynards in Shenandoah County were related, I believe all were descended from George Reynard. Among other children, George had a son named Harrison Reynard who married Susan Morris. I have seen the name spelled Rynard, Reynard, Rennard, Renard, Rinehart. I have encountered Elanson Reynard's name and perhaps collected information several years ago. I am unable to retrieve the information now, because I am swamped with papers from another project (editing a 250th anniversary history of Hampshire County, 1754-2004). I was born and raised in Rockingham County (my mother was from Tenth Legion). Although I have several ancestors (maternal side) in Shenandoah County, I have not completed my own ancestral research. At some point I want to compare notes on our Reynards. Wilmer L. 3. Maybe we are on the same page. When you get time, please let me know what you have, because as I said, I can't get Elanson's father placed. On another note, I have Claypool/Chilcott roots in Hardy Co (Va/WVa) back in the early 1800's. Do you have anything on those? Thanks, Judy ----- Original Message ----- From: "Wilmer L.
