    3. There are a ton of Corders just over the mountain east of Page Co., VA. Try Fauquier and Culpeper Co. records. The Ruffners were from what is now Page Co., VA (formerly Shenandoah Co). William Corder was in Shenandoah Co., VA in the 1810 and 1820 (Pine Forge twp.) census. I believe Pine Forge is near Smith Creek, just north of New Market, VA. I don't know about owning land in Shen. Co., but they certainly lived there. These marriage licenses are from Shen. 3. Shirley, Yes, the Corders were there. However, there is very little information that indicates how they were related to each other. You may be able to help me. You mentioned the Corders in Culpeper more than one. Do you know anything about the Mary Corder who m. Jonas Beahm in Culpeper in 1828? None of my Corder researchers seem to know who she could be. The only Corders and Carders in the 1820-1830 census indexes for Culpeper County can be related to families that do not include her. I keep wondering if she could be related to Wm and Cathrine (Philips) Corder of ShenCo. Perhaps they are living with Cathine's famiily which also seems elusive. I have started looking for Philips families in Rockingham and Culpeper Counties. The Corder family I have been attempting to focus on is Wm and Cathrine (Philips) Corder who m. in ShenCo in 1809. The 1809 marriage bonds seem to be missing, so I have no other family members to go on. I did find a Priscilla Philips who m. David Olinger in 1801. Chrisitan Philips was their bondsman. David Olinger was listed in the church records for Davidsburg Church in New Market. Rev, Henkel of Davidsburg Church also m. Wm and Cathrine. Wm signed up for the War of 1812 in New Market. I found Christian Philips listed just below Isabella Furnace on the same page as Jonathan Philips who is associated with Isabella Furnace. Ancestry.com called that area the Pine Forge area. It may have been closer to New Market. Tom Pierce said those names listed below Isabella Furnace did not live at Pine Forge. So Ancestry.com goofed. The Wm Corder listed on page 169-70 in the 1820 census is probably near Gooney Manor since he is with Gilbert Morgan who owned land near there. Those names on pages 165-68 may have been spread out between Isabella Furnace and Browntown. The Ruffners also had land in this area. Perhaps you know something about the Corders of Culpeper after 1820. You may also know which ones were associated with ShenCo./PageCo. as was the Mary who married Jonas Beahm. Any ideas?
