USGS shows 17 places associated with the name Mount Hope in Virginia: http://geonames.usgs.gov/pls/gnis/web_query.gnisprod?f_name=mount+hope&variant=N&f_state=Virginia&f_cnty=&f_ty=&elev1=&elev2=&cell=&my_function=Send+Query&last_name=&last_state=&last_cnty=&page_cnt=&record_cnt=&tab=Y If that link doesn't work for you try: http://geonames.usgs.gov/pls/gnis/web_query.gnis_web_query_form and type in "Mount Hope" without the quotes as the feature name, then pick Virginia as the state. If you are sure of the county you can specify it as well. It sounds likely that the town and/or the church named Mount Hope near Middletown, VA are what you are looking for. Walt
