Thank you Judy, Bernie, Lee, Jane and all who responded to my request for 1850 census info on my ggg-father Richard J. Robinson. I have acquired a great number of leads with all your help. I am sharing this info in the hopes that I might connect with someone related to this Robinson line or possessing any additional info. It appears there are two Richard Robinsons listed in Hampshire County for the 1840 and 1850 censuses and these are very likely the same two households in both censuses. I hope this helps other listers, and will forward it to anyone interested, but it appears my Richard J. Robinson was mistakenly listed as Robert J. Robinson in the 1850 Harrison Co. census (Thanks again, Judy, for discovering this.): 21st district, enumerated 29 July 1850 Ancestry Image 272 Roll M432_950, Page 135 Robert J. Robinson 36 PA Wagonmaker Nancy 28 PA Theopilus 11 PA John 9 PA Frances 3 PA (The image clearly shows "Robert", not "Richard") This is definitly my Robinson line as the names and ages (plus ten years are) present in the 1860 census in Noble Co., Ohio. There was obviously an error in recording "Robert" also PA appears an error as they were all born in VA. Richard's father, John Thomas, and brother, Joseph L. are also found in Harrison: 22nd District, enumerated 17 August 1850 Ancestry Image 438 Roll M432_950, Page 218 Joseph Robinson 26 VA Shoemaker John T. 61 MD Elizabeth 55 VA Harriet 27 VA Elizabeth 10 VA Mary 8 VA The family appears to have moved from Hampshire Co., VA (WV) before the birth of my gg-father, John W. Robinson in Jan 1843 and sometime after the 1840 census where housholds are found for Richard J. Robinson and his father John T. and siblings: Beverly W., William, Joseph E.?, and John? There are also other Robinson housholds: Alcy, Benjamin, Moses and Thomas listed on this site. http://www.rootsweb.com/~wvminera/1840.htm Another lister, Bernie, refered me to the following book titled "This Robinson Line" by Viola Robinson Long, which my establish a relationship to the line of Christopher Robinson of "Hewick (fifth genreation) born around 1645 in Cleasby, Yorkshire, England: William Robinson born in Middlesex Co., VA. in March 1709, who married Agatha Beverly and had 9 children. Issue of William and Agatha Beverly Robinson: John b. 1738, eldest son, m. 1st a Miss Page; m. 2nd (mg. bond dated 24 Nov 1757) to Lucy Smith had two sons who went to Tennessee ca 1800. A third son John Thomas m. Elizabeth Emerson and had issue: Beverly W., Arthur, Samuel, William, Richard b. abt 1812, John, and Joseph Lewis. The latter was the father of Mr. P. M. Robinson, Vice Pres. of Union National Bank of Clarksburg, West Virginia. I would like to obtain a copy of this book and also establish contact with anyone related to this line. Thanks again for all your help.
