    1. [VASHENAN] Driving directions to 2nd Annual Shenandoah County Heritage Day
    2. Driving directions to Shenandoah County Heritage Day This is very easy. >From I-81 - north or south - take exit 279. Turn east onto Stoney Creek Boulevard (right if northbound, left if southbound). Go approximately 1/2 mile (you will pass Shenandoah County Library on the left). When you see the railroad tracks, you will see the Edinburg Fire Department on your left. The parking lot is behind the building, and the access road is between the fire hall and a little park with a gazebo in it. I am not sure of the street names, or I would list them here, I live an hour away from Edinburg, but the fire hall was easy for me to find the first time - and you will see that it is very hard to miss. There are scheduled to be Civil War reenactors camping in that park - of course that is dependent upon the weather. >From Newport News/Williamsburg, the simplest route would be to take I-64 all the way to I-81 (near Staunton) and go north on I-81 to Edinburg. An alternate route would be to take I-64 to Richmond, then north on I-95 to I-66, then west to Strasburg, but I-95 is more congested as we all know. Once you get to I-81, you have it made. If anyone else can add to this, feel free to do so, I am by no means an expert in navigation ;-) Ask my wife, she will tell you. A little bit of information about Edinburg. It is a quaint and charming little town and is obviously filled with history. As I said, I don't live there, but I certainly feel like I could. I think first time visitors will be impressed. Things to do in the area - if you (or your spouse) like antiques, you will be in heaven. Just go to Route 11 (Main Street in Edinburg) and drive - either direction - there are antique shops in every town you pass through. New Market Battlefield State Park in New Market. Caverns - Endless, Shenandoah, farther away, Skyline and Luray. BEST hotel to stay in is Hotel Strasburg - the food is also very good - not the lowest price, but it is a four star hotel and deserving of that rating. If you are in town on Friday, don't forget to stop by Shenandoah County Library and say Hi to Jean Martin, the archivist who has helped make the Shenandoah Room one of the best genealogy/local history collections in the Valley. Okay, enough PR from me - again, anyone else with tips on things to do while visiting the Valley, feel free to add your comments/suggestions. This is appropriate for the list, since, if you haven't visited Shenandoah County, you really should. If you get lost, it wasn't my fault ;-) Take care all, hope to see you on April 10.
