I have a photocopy of an old unidentified newspaper clipping that says Bettie Margaret Pence and Caspter Allen Kipps motored from Timberville to "our town" to be married on 16 May 1918. Am trying to figure out if "our town" is in Rockingham or Shenandoah County. They were married by the Rev. J. P. Stirewalt, D.D. I know I'ver run across that latter name before, but where did he serve? After the wedding, the couple was "motored to New Market" apparently to catch the "Southern train to Washington." They were on their way to Milwaukee, Wissconsin, where the groom was to soon be ordained as a Lutheran minister. He had accepted a call to serve a congregation in Cedarburg, Wisconsin. Where is "our town"? Richard A. Pence 3211 Adams Ct, Fairfax, VA 22030-1900 Voice 703-591-4243 / Fax 703-352-3560 Pence Family History <www.pipeline.com/~richardpence/>
Stirewalt the current local spelling (not Steirwalt) was the minister at Luray too - likely was the same one - Mt. Calvary Lutheran I believe and his granddaughter donated the Pastor's Notes on that term to the Page Public Library. That would make sense with your "motor" story too - Good luck. -----Original Message----- From: Richard A.
