There were 2 Wetzell/Coffman marriages John Wetzel (one L) to Christina Coffman - 11 Aug 1798 (not 1789 are stated elsewhere) - bond by Samuel Wetzel William Wetzell (2 L's) to Rebecca Coffman 20 April 1849 - bond John Wetzell who also posted bonds for Absalom in 1845, Martin in 1832, Eli in 1837. And in the records for John in 1820 and David in 1822 it says he's the son of John. Hope this information helps someone in those lines. Bev In a message dated 8/14/2007 7:42:59 A.M. I'm going to be ordering the 1801-1804 shenandoah county marriage bonds -would it be on there? "J. Let me know if you think that the first line says "we John Wetzel of Henry Wetzel" and does this mean that Henry is the father of John. I see that Samuel Wetzel's name is on the bottom and I thought maybe that is a bondsman signature as you sited "Shenandoah County Marriage Bonds 1772-1850" page 81. John's son David Wetzel is my husband's line. We feel that our David was indeed born around 1802, married Leah Pence in July of 1882, had James, Rebecca, Sidney Ann and Peter) and then married Rachael Slater in May of 1868, when he was 66 years old. This is the marriage that produced 1)David (never married d. 10 Oct 1949) 2)Sarah 3)William McCauley(my husband's grandfather), and 4) Eliza (see above bond/marriage licenses.) --------------------------------- Ready for the edge of your seat?
