    1. [VASHENAN] Northern Neck Grants--Henry Spore/George Lonas
    2. Gerald Spore
    3. Thanks to the sharp eye of Vickie Miller of the Shen. Co. VA list, I now have a new surname to pursue in my Henry Spore research. Vickie came up with this grant record-- p66 S-453: George Lonas asne of Henry Sporr 320 A. (9 May 1778) in Shanandoh Co on Ryans Run of Stoney Cr 9 June 1788. Can someone explain to me what the arrangement probably was between George Lonas and Henry Spore. The land did not stay in the Spore family, and it is surmised that Henry Spore died in Shen. Co. between 1785 and 1780. The reason I am so interested is that some Lonas family members seem to have moved to Knox Co TN about the same time as Henry Spore's son Jacob (my g-g-gf). Jacob Spore Sr first moved to Washington Co TN, from Shen. Co., about 1806. Then in 1817, he moved to Knox Co TN. In an item from the Knoxville Intelligencer, I find that Jacob Spore Sr's son David (my g-gf) was married to Milly Head on Jan 30, 1823 at the home of Henry Lonas. Then, in the 1830 Knox Co TN census, we find Jacob Spore Sr living next door to David Lonas. About 1831 was when the entire Jacob Spore Sr family, except for oldest child Margaret (Spore) May, moved to Indiana. Could the Lonas family have been related to the Spores? Does anyone know anything about the Lonas family? Any help out there? Gerald L (Jerry) Spore (Spore/Dressler/Hemp/Mauck/Ramey)
