In the the 2167844 LDS film of Minister's renturs for Shenandoah county, 1772-1877 - and the ones I scanned - you are right, I didn't find one Criswell - I did find Cordell - and 1791 - Samuel Trunk? & Eliz. Cordell - 2167844-576 1793 - George Cordell & Sally Jennings - 2167844-541 1801 Jamed Corder & ?odal Cripiwell - 2167844-429 1802 - John Corder & Elizabeth Mahony - 2167844-429 let me know if any of them would help. There are quite a few Dellinger's but no Dorothy that I have - if you want to go through the Dellingers just let me know - I will probably send you the Word file, then you can tell me the image number to send you - I hope this helps good luck Julie Nancy Corder Halvorson <[email protected]> wrote: While members of the mailing list are discussing Dellingers, I thought I'd ask if anyone knew about the George Dellinger Family, which included Dorothey Dellinger. Amy Gilreath once told me that this George was not in her family so she had not studied them. Dorothy Dellinger m. Henry Reader in Shenandoah County, VA in 1798 What I am attempting to do is thread together the family and friends associated with the Corders who married in Shenandoah. Henry Reader was the bondsman for a Corder-Criswell marriage and a Wrae-Criswell marriage. Yet, I have found no Criswells in Shenandoah County records. The marriages took place 1801-1802 and a Presbyterian Minister out from Front Royal was their minister. I did find a few (very few) Criswell records in Frederick County, VA. I am looking for a cross-family member who was the benefactor of Reuben Corder, ward of Martin and Elizabeth (Corder) Pence who m. in Shenandoah County, VA in 1812. The guardianship was recorded in Champaign County, OH in 1830. I keep adding cross-family names to my list of plausible benefactors as I learn more about the Corders of Shenandoah County and the Corders of Champaign County, OH and their associated families. I have a photo copy of the marriage return for James and John Corder that I made from an LDS microfilm. George Cordell is an interesting possibility, since there was another Corder-Jennings marriage in Warren Co. VA. This family moved to MD where I found a Corder-Drish Marriage in Frederick Co. MD. However, Cordell is a bonafide surname, so I have tended to not include Cordell records. Then again, I just re-read the ShenCo Corder marriage bonds and discovered John Corder was spelled John Cordell on one of the bonds. Maybe I should be including Cordell as possible spellings for Corder. So please go ahead and send me the marriage returns for Elizabeth Cordell and George Cordell. According to my reading of the minister's return, the names for 1801 "Jamed Corder & ?odal Cripiwell - 2167844-429" were James Corder and Rhodah Crifswell (Crisswell). The book on marriage bonds also transcribes them as James Corder and Rhodah Criswell and the copy I have of the marriage bond also looks like Rhodah Criswell / Chriswell. Thanks for sharing. You are doing an outstanding job. Nancy Corder Halvorson
