Terry Helsley and the List, I have not followed the Helsley discussion closely, because I didn't think I had any interest. However, I now find a marriage of GEORGE LONAS to BARBARY HELSLEY 9/17/1795. Is this the same George Lonas, who was the assignee of my ancestor Henry Spore for 320 acres on 9 May 1778 on Ryans Run of Stoney Creek? Rosina Dellinger, d/o Christian Dellinger and Mary Magdalene who owned land on Stoney Creek. Could this be the father of the George who m. Barbara Helsley in 1795? My ancestor John Surber m. Margaret Lonas in 1793. She was reportedly the d/o Leonard and Catherine Lonas. The Surbers also lived along Stoney Creek. Could Margaret be say a sister or cousin to this George? Are there Lonas researchers who know about Leonard and Catherine Lonas and how they might be related to these families? Thanks, Nancy Corder Halvorson
While members of the mailing list are discussing Dellingers, I thought I'd ask if anyone knew about the George Dellinger Family, which included Dorothey Dellinger. Amy Gilreath once told me that this George was not in her family so she had not studied them. Dorothy Dellinger m. Henry Reader in Shenandoah County, VA in 1798 What I am attempting to do is thread together the family and friends associated with the Corders who married in Shenandoah. Henry Reader was the bondsman for a Corder-Criswell marriage and a Wrae-Criswell marriage. Yet, I have found no Criswells in Shenandoah County records. The marriages took place 1801-1802 and a Presbyterian Minister out from Front Royal was their minister. I did find a few (very few) Criswell records in Frederick County, VA. I am looking for a cross-family member who was the benefactor of Reuben Corder, ward of Martin and Elizabeth (Corder) Pence who m. in Shenandoah County, VA in 1812. The guardianship was recorded in Champaign County, OH in 1830. I keep adding cross-family names to my list of plausible benefactors as I learn more about the Corders of Shenandoah County and the Corders of Champaign County, OH and their associated families.
