    2. I believe that Amanda Grandstaff to whom you refer was the daughter of Peter's daughter Eve, born 1804, who married George Grandstaff on August 12, 1824. The will of George Grandstaff, Sr. proved 9 June 1823 lists his children as Philip, and notes "children of my son George decd", and Barbara Grandstaff, widow of my son George, Also mentions Magdalene, wife of John Helsy I believe this is John Jacob Helsley, eldest son of Peter, who married Magdalene Grandstaff on March 18, 1813. I believe Eve and her brother John Jacob Helsley married George and his sister Magdalene Grandstaff. George was dead by 1824 (per his father's will). Eve was not dead in 1849 when Peter Helsley's will was written, but might have been dead before the 1850 census. Jane In a message dated 7/8/2007 11:55:57 A.M. Trook married Amanda Grandstaff in 1854 in Shenandoah County. She listed her parents as Jacob and Rebecca. If she was Peter Helsley's granddaughter, as stated in his will, then who where her parents? I always thought that they were Jacob Grandstaff and Mary Koontz (who died when Amanda was born). Maybe this Rebecca was an adopted mother. Or maybe Amanda was raised by a Helsley and Peter just considered her a granddaughter. Well, it is all a mystery to me. Any help on Amanda would be great. Is the William Helsley listed with Peter Helsley in 1850 census the one you are looking for? Amanda was also listed in Peter's household. Amanda & hubby John Nicholas Trook moved to Stark County, Ohio. 3. Hi - on the LDS film I'm almost done transcribing the scans I took - I have this one Grandstaff - maybe there are more in the next film. 1835 - John L? Grandstaff to Isabela A Murry I've got some Helsley's but they are all in the 1830s and no Peter. If you want the scans just let me know.
