Mason Huffman was a Brethren Minister in the Shenandoah Valley back in the 1920s. He served Cedar Grove church from 1924 to 1929. In her 1929 diary on Wednesday, April 3, Mattie Bushong Good refers to them giving Bro. Huffmans a pounding. Could this mean that everyone in the congregation brought a pound of something to give to them, for instance a pound of butter, a pound of sugar, etc? Has anyone ever heard this term?
