The information may be from books published by the H E Howard Publishing Company in Lynchburg, Va. Mr Howard did historians and genealogists a wonderful service by hiring historical writers to write books on each of the Virginia Civil War units. You can find many of those books on Amazon.com listed under 'Virginia Regimental Histories Series' and I'm sure some of our other bookstores will have them too. They have a complete history of the unit and a short bio of most of the members in the back. Bev In a message dated 3/3/2008 11:50:46 P.M. This person sent me a copy of the cover of a book, The Danville, Eight Star New Market and Dixie Artillery by Robert Moore. This included a copy of page 75 and a copy of a page 48 which both contained different information on my grgrandfather. What I am trying to find out is if these pages were from 2 different books. Page 75 was entitled The Eighth Star New Market Artillery and page 48 was entitled The Danville Artillery. When reading the information on those who were in the Eighth Star New Market Artillery it shows them being reassigned to the Danville Artillery and then notes: see DA. Is there a seperate book and if the person who sent that information to me is still out there could you please contact me? I have received information on other family members who were in these units from a very helpful Pat Shelton today but she does not know of a seperate book. I have tried both of the sites she suggested but found nothing else. I really would like to see if there is any other information on these other family members as there was on my grgrandfather. I would appreciate any help that anyone can give me. Forever grateful- Sharon Shaffer Domer ______________________________________________________________________________ ______ Never miss a thing. If you go to Jeff Weaver's Civil War site, you can order the books there, but you have to print out the order form and snail mail it.
