We found an interesting document in Page County for 160 acres. We are still trying to find a Deed for this land. Sarah Bushong removed to Henry County, Indiana after 1856 where she married a cousin Philip Bushong, son of Peter Bushong and Elizabeth Fertig. The John Fox below was a half brother-in-law as his wife Christina Clem was the daughter of Sarah's mother Catharine Ruffner and Peter Clem, her first marriage. "This day Moses Walton and John Fox well known to the Court to be credible persons came into Court and being sworn in due form of law declared that they are well acquainted with Sarah Bushong whose name is signed to an asignment of Land Warrant No. 11--5-- for one hundred and sixty acres of land: that they know the said Sarah to be the heir at Law and the only surviving heir at law of John Bushong and that the said Sarah had attained the age of twenty one years at the time of executing the said asignment." SOURCE: Page County Virginia Minute Book 5, 1855-1861 (Reel 20) Virginia State Archives, Richmond, Virginia Page 72 and 73 Entry dated 25 February 1856 Well, This is an interesting document. Sine Sarah was very very young when her father John Bushong died in 1839 and she went to live with relatives in Page County, evidently John Fox and his wife Christina (Catharine's daughter} never told Sarah Bushong that she had older half brothers and sisters, John, William, Jacob, Andrew, Elizabeth, Susannah and Mary Bushong over in Shenandoah County. Sarah was so young when her father and mother died that she might not have remembered them. The warrant number was not clear. We have had the state archives searched and the Deed book for Page County searched but so far have not found anything on the 160 acres. We will continue looking for this. ------ Shenandoah County Virginia Marriage Bonds 1772-1850 Groom: John Bushong Bride: Magdaline Bozeman Date applied for bond: 29 August 1803 Bondsman: Peter Bushong Magdaline Bozeman was the daughter of William Bauserman Sr. and Susannah Golladay. ------- Shenandoah County Marriage Bonds issued 25 December 1829: Lucy Bushong, daughter of John Bushong and William Brinker son of Aaron Hawkins Sr. and Barbara Brinker. >From Shenandoah County Ministers Returns: Married by Rev.
