Gloria and listmates-   I appreciate the interesting information on Geo.Shaffer Jr.'s will. Another little piece of the Shaffer family puzzle.   Just to clear up a little bit of confusion on Geo. Sr.'s children. There were 13 children total and 12 that survived infancy. The research I have was done by Helen Hooke of Harrisonburg, Va. She was the grgranddaughter of Geo., granddaughter of Malinda Shaffer Lucas, daughter of Geo. Lester Lucas. I was told she was very meticulous with her research so I am confident that the following information is accurate.   Children of George and Margaret Shaffer:   1. Lydia Ann     b.1858 2. Sarah Florence "Josie"  b.1861    (I have no idea why she was called Josie) 3. Mary Frances Josephine  b. 1862 4. George Jr.   b. 1863  ( I show his birthdate as 18 Aug 1863) 5. Malinda Katorah "Torie"  b. 1866 6. Emma Melichar   b. 1867 7. Caspar Eugene  b. 1869  d. 1883 8. Luther Milton  b. 1871 9. Avia Eudorah  b. 1873  d. 1874 10. William Author  b. 1875 11.Dewitt Huston  b. 1877 12. Clarence Monroe b. 1879  (my grandfather) 13. Valley Theodoria  b. 1881   Correction to the census info: George's brother John was John Randolph and he has descendants still in the valley.   Thanks again for this tidbit.
