Gloria, Thank you for your quick response! I will definitely check out Warren County for William J. Blackwood. It is very strange, because the Shenandoah County, VA Court Minute Book (1816-1821) was referenced in two other researchers notes. In one reference, it even states that "the date of the court session was 9 Mar 1818 and the reference is found in the fourth entry for that particular court session." I am guessing that maybe they were looking at the original?? Also, I think it is interesting that in my earlier question regarding an Elizabeth Blackwood - she was suppose to have been arrested for assault on William Lawrence - that William Lawrence was listed in the court case you just sent me with James and John Blackwood. From my understanding, John and James Blackwood are brothers, and Elizabeth was possibly their sister. She somehow assaulted William Lawrence, and one of her brothers testified against her, while William - possible father - testified on her behalf. She spent some time in prison and had a large fine. Again, I have not been able to find this case, but researchers before me have cited Shenandoah County papers. If you run onto any Blackwoods, I would love to hear about them. I live in Illinois, and have done most of my research on line. I will be sure to pass along any information I find in Warren County. Thank you very much for your time and efforts.
