Vann called the Shenandoah County Virginia Study of the 1860 Census. It had wonderful nformation n the families of the 1860 census, unfortunately for me it stopped short of he family I needed. They only had 4 volumes and the family I needed would robably be in the 5th volume, if there is one. Does anyone have access to his set of books? Is there a 5th volume? And could I ask for a look up? I need the info on family dwelling number 1291, family number 1289. They re Samuel and Lydia Wilt, living in Liberty Furnace District with their 6 ids, Sarah, Catherine, John, Caroline, Amanda, and Harry. Thank you, any help you can offer is greatly appreciated. Thank you, Estelle Hi Estelle, I have been laboriously going thru all the microfilms I can find from the ibrary of Virginia. I did not see this set of books on their list, although hey are on microfilm somewhere, I am sure. I found the first 4 volumes in ooks at the Library in Appalachian State University. It helps to know where n the census they are as the families are listed by dwelling number. This ill help to identify which volume you possibly need. Here is he first paragraph: "Samuel Wilt was married to Lydia Miller on 28 May 1846. The bondsman or the marriage was George Miller. According to Waverly Barb, Barb amily historian, Lydia Miller was the daughter of Jacob and atherine. Jacob Miller married Catherine Sager on 22 Oct 1803. This amily was listed as Wiett in the 1870 census. Samuel was listed as an ron ore miner." I came across Samuel and his family in the 1850 Census a while ago, here his surname is listed as "Will." This caused me some excitement ntil I realized it was a typo. Regards, Larry Will n Thu, Dec 2, 2010 at 8:53 AM, <LadyMist1@aol.com> wrote: Hello Lw, Thank you so much for the information.
