VALLEY Pat, Thanks for your message about Jeanette's book and the names Taylor, Munch, and Barr. Since I e-mailed with this question, I have called Jeanette and talked with her. She said that the new book is more a history book than one on genealogy. I talked to Jeanette in person at her home a few years ago when we were in Ft. Valley trying to research these names in our family. If you ever hear of anyone who has Zachary Taylor family history, I would be very interested in talking with that person. We have from Zachary Taylor and forward, but have only been able to go back as far as his father, James Taylor. And there we get stuck. What we know is James, Zachary, Oscar, Beatrice Taylor – and then me. I was born in 1934 in Washington, DC to Beatrice Taylor Gardner, daughter of Oscar Taylor and Mary Elizabeth (Mamie) Barr. One of my fondest childhood memories is of going "up in the country" to Uncle Stanley and Aunt Lucy Barr's farm. We live in Lynchburg, VA and I teach at Liberty University. Thanks for taking time to answer my question. MERRY CHRISTMAS!!! Zachary Taylor has numerous pages. The book's probably a good investment for you. Jeanette Ritenour is one of the co-authors. Her step-father was Orie Munch, one of the Fort's prominent historians and storytellers.
