Hi Gloria, This does not surprise me. My mother in law is the granddaugter to Philip Wilts son David from his first wife Elizabeth Martin. David ran away when he was young from the abuse suffered at the hands of Philip. He was raised by his dead mothers brother. It has been well known in our family that he had a bad temper, but I did not think attempted murder would be in there as well. George Tharp was the brother to Philips 3rd wife. Upon looking at my records further, this felony conviction happened before 1903 when he divorced his 2nd wife Fannie Shirkey. He served 2 years in jail and when he got out she wanted nothing to do with him anymore so he filed for divorce. Family dinners must have been real fun with this family.
