    2. Thanks to Linda who was correct in saying that it was a forge. I believe it could have been the old Pine Forge near New Market and somewhere stored in my back of my brain was a memory based on a conversation with an old timer that Pine Forge was referred to as Valley Forge sometimes. Or at least I think that what they said. That was at least 10 years ago and my memory isn't as good as it used to be. I found William Bailey in the 1880 census living near New Market with neighbors Strother and George W. Shaffer, George A. Stillwell and Joseph and Fannie Myers.
