Looks like his age is wrong in 1930 census of Licking Co., Ohio where he was living in Jersey Twp. with Joseph H., 38, Dora M. 36, Ralph D., 14, Edward H., 11, Roe B, 8, Roy J., 8, and Willis, 2. Family will receive friends on Saturday, October 23, 2010 at the Jersey Universalist Christian Church, 13134 Worthington Road NW, Pataskala, Ohio from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. with a 3 p.m. Funeral Service to follow with Rev. Larry Edgar officiating. He graduated from Jersey School and celebrated his 75th reunion from Pataskala High School. Willis Graduated from The Ohio State University with a degree in agriculture. He married Eileen Sannon in 1941. He taught at Junction City, Utica, Croton/ Hartford, and Northridge. He was the oldest member of Licking County retired Teachers. He was a Hartford Fair Board Member and established the Fravel Sannon Museum with Eileen's family heirlooms and farm equipment after his first wife passed away in 1970. One of the founding members of the Steer Pool for the Hartford Fair. A mentor of FFA students, he purchased many of the young people's live stock to encourage them. He was instrumental in starting the fruit sale money making effort for the FFA. Willis was one of the first Agriculture Hall of Fame recipients in Licking County. He was the last person to get a lifetime teaching certificate in Ohio. Lifelong member of Jersey Universalist Christian Church where his mother, father, and present wife, Ellen Fravel went to church. He was a Sunday School teacher, built, and added on to the church. He mowed grass for Jersey Township; even though he retired he was still very active in his community. Willis always remembered his students and their families. He was instrumental in helping them be good and productive individuals. Willis believed that each child had their own way of learning and each child was special. He was considered by many a gentleman, caring husband, and lifelong friend. He is survived by his wife, Ellen; and her children; grandchildren; and great grandchildren; his nieces and nephews. Preceded in death by his parents; first wife; brothers; and baby sister. In lieu of flowers, please donate to the Jersey Universalist Christian Church, or the Fravel Sannon Museum c/o the Hartford Fair, 14028 Fairground Road NW, Croton, Ohio 43013, or to the Future Farmers of America programs at one of the schools in which he taught.
