Okay folks I have one correction. Pine Forge and Valley Forge were not the same forge, BUT they were owned by the same family, the Pennybakers. Pine Forge was near Smith Creek on the east side of the Valley Pike (Route 11) just north of New Market, and Valley Forge was on the west side of the Shenandoah River just west of the Battlefield property and was part of Cave Hill Mill. That makes perfect sense since Franklin was the son of Jacob and Sarah Strickler Bushong, the Battlefield family. Gloria
Gloria, That's great! How were you finally able to connect the dots and find the information on the correct Valley Forge?
