The Edinburg Sentinel, Woodstock Times, Strasburg News, Marshall Chief Justice and I believe a newspaper in Front Royal were consolidated into the Northern Virginia Daily in 1930 by Mr. E. E. Keister. Years ago I was permitted to research the archives at the Northern Virginia Daily office in Strasburg. They had many issues of the above-mentioned newspapers, in very frail condition. I was told not too many years ago that they were going to be put on microfilm but I don't think this has happened to date. I believe the earliest Strasburg News papers they had there were about 1890, although I am sure they published before that. The Shenandoah Valley newspaper in New Market was kept in the Henkel family until later by John G. Miller, until it was consolidated with the Shenandoah Herald, owned by the Grabill family, when both papers were bought by the Byrd family. On a personal note, the obituary for Calvin Bushong appeared in the Apr. 13, 1928 edition of the Shenandoah Herald in Woodstock, per your inquiry. -----Original Message----- From: Chochoruss@aol.com Sent: Friday, February 04, 2011 5:59 PM To: vashenan@rootsweb.com Subject: [VASHENAN] Dates of Publication for The Strasburg News,Shenandoah County, VA Good Evening Vashenan Listmates, Does anyone know the dates of publication for The Strasburg News?
