William and Mary Liggett lived in the town of Edinburg. In the absence of gravestones, you might check with the cemeteries in Edinburg about their burial records. I once did a preliminary search for William Liggett and found a reference William Liggett, deceased, in the minutes of the Shenandoah County Court, May 1875 (Gen. Index to Minute Books, 1863-1882, Library of Va. microfilm 01000, roll 62 [Shenandoah Co.]) If you want to search the local newspapers for his death, that will limit the span from the June 1870 census to May 1875. -------------------------------------------------- From: <swe@cox.net> Sent: Thursday, January 06, 2011 11:49 PM To: <vashenan@rootsweb.com> Subject: [VASHENAN] Liggett-Frye marriage about 1845 > I have been unable to locate a marriage record (sometime around 1845) for > William Liggett and Mary Frye or burial information. > I found them in the 1850-1880 census records in Shenandoah County. James, William Liggett worked as a gunsmith in the Grandstaff shop in Edinburg. I don't know where he is buried but I know people that have further information about him and some of his relatives in WV. There was more than one William Liggett. Two brothers, Jacob and Peter Liggett came from Pennsylvania to Shenandoah. Jacob later went to Rockingham County.
