Who is Rebecca Funk? ----------------------------- Barbara, I believe that Elizabeth "Betsy" Bushong was older when she first married so don't have a problem with that. She is living with her elderly parents in the 1840 census. We have a photo of her up on our website and she was not the most beautiful woman in the world by today's standards. Some researchers have said that the two young boys buried in the Bowman-Fisher Cemetery were hers but I have my doubts unless I find a marriage record that put her married around 1840-41. Neither is mentioned in her obit and since their tombstones only give the initials W. and E. as parents, we aren't totally convinced as those names could stand for other names then William and Elizabeth. Getting to Rebecca Funk. When we were doing this research in the 1860 census it stated her name as Recepta Funk. We assumed that the enumerator just heard the name wrong and wrote Rebecca as Recepta since that is a pretty weird name. There was a Rebecca J. Funk in the 1850 census, age 9, living with her parents Jesse and Rebecca Funk which we had found during this research so that was what made us believe that the name was just incorrect in the record. BUT now, looking further, we found a Sarepta Funk, age 9, living with her parents Joseph and Elizabeth Funk. So, I guess the name is something between Recepta and Sarepta.
