    2. The spelling "WILT-WELT" only appears once in the records provided below under the given name of Peter who appears to be one of the active members. The question would be "Where are the rest of his family members, since families usually attend the same church?" In addition, there is a Lucy WITT on the "Communicants List of 30 Apr 1826" in the Lutheran Zion-Pine Church records for the years 1786-1827. I did not see this set of books on their list, although hey are on microfilm somewhere, I am sure. I found the first 4 volumes in ooks at the Library in Appalachian State University. Here is he first paragraph: "Samuel Wilt was married to Lydia Miller on 28 May 1846. The bondsman or the marriage was George Miller. According to Waverly Barb, Barb amily historian, Lydia Miller was the daughter of Jacob and atherine. Jacob Miller married Catherine Sager on 22 Oct 1803. This amily was listed as Wiett in the 1870 census. Samuel was listed as an ron ore miner." I came across Samuel and his family in the 1850 Census a while ago, here his surname is listed as "Will." This caused me some excitement ntil I realized it was a typo. Regards, Larry Will n Thu, Dec 2, 2010 at 8:53 AM, <LadyMist1@aol.com> wrote: Hello Lw, Thank you so much for the information. 1. [VASHENAN] Peter Wilt, Possible Father of Samuel Wilt married to Lydia Miller
    2. Lisa, Here is my best educated guess on the ancestry of Samuel Wilt. I believe he might be a son of a very older Peter Wilt living in Rockingham County, Virginia in the 1840 census with a younger second wife. Samuel might have at least three half siblings named John, Lucy and Jacob. He had at least one full sister named Catherine. You'll have to find the marriage for him probably in Rockingham County. There is a Chancery Record that might or might not have some information in it. See Rockingham County Record 1894-110: George Miller VS Adm. of John Fawley. Names involved are Fawley, Johnson, Knisey, Miller, Sager, Tussing, Whetstore, and Wilt. There is a Will involved but this might or might not have any bearing. Can't read on-line. 2. I wonder if the name could have been Wiltz originally? PA Dutch was really German and they would most likely have been Lutherans. Cathy

    2. The Wilts lived in Millertown, Stony Creek area right? Samuel had a daughter named Sarah who married Daniel Johnson. The marriage didn't last long and she left him and later married under an assumed name Annie Wilt to James Jackson even though at that point she wasn't divorced. The divorce from Daniel is in the Chancery Records. Gloria
