Ed Riffey, who now lives in Ohio, while recently visiting friends in Woodstock, was found guility of reckless driving on the streets of the town. Several witnesses testified as to the reckless driving which ended when Riffey's car ran into one of the pillars of the porch to the Hotel Annex. Mayor Trotter found the defendent guilty of reckless driving and imposed a fine of 100.00 adn the car was promptly levied on. Riffey abscounded and it is reported he is safely back in Ohio, and the car will be offered at public auction on Court Day Bruce C Young III

Glenn, This John R. Williams is buried in Athens Co., OH near his wife Jane and near Isaac Williams and Isaac's family. I won't discount anything, though, because there is no way of knowing at this point if several of the Williams families of Shenandoah Co. were related or not. It is possible that "my" John and Isaac were cousins to your Mary Ann and John. I know the name John was common in the family, as it must be in every family! Perhaps the only thing more fun than hunting for a John Williams would be researching someone named Robert Smith. :) Kym -----Original Message----- From: GCline8181@aol.com [mailto:GCline8181@aol.com] Sent: Saturday, February 01, 2003 11:11 AM To: VASHENAN-L@rootsweb.com Subject: Re: [VASHENAN] John R. I forgot to add--there was no birth records in that time period other than family bibles or in local church records. Glenn cline

I wish I could, but that is all I know about his life in Shenandoah Co. He moved to Athens Co., OH in 1835 and married there in 1836. He died of illness as a soldier in the Civil War. I believe John had a brother named Isaac, but their relationship is circumstantial. Actually, I'm descended from Isaac, but I could not find an obit for him. All indications are that John and Isaac were brothers, or perhaps cousins. Since John's obit had his birthdate and place of birth listed, he seemed the most likely candidate for research and identification. Do you have any information about the Williams families of Shenandoah Co.? Or do you know of the location of any birth records? It was my hope that someone who is researching a Williams families of Shenandoah would recognize the birthdate or approximate birthdate of someone in their databases. This is a WONDERFUL resource. I just wish I could find my Evans or Coffee family listed. Thanks for your hard work! Can you tell me more about your John Williams?
Does anyone know the correct e-mail for this individual - genie729@home.com? This person is listed as the point of contact in Migration Guest Book but I get a return mail message that states this address is not recognized. Any help will be appreciated. Thanks.
I've made this request before about one of my brick walls but thought I'd try again in case someone has come across something in recent months that could help me. I am trying to locate the parents of John R. Williams, born 16 October 1807 in Shenandoah Co., VA. He removed from the state of VA in 1835. I found this information in his obituary. Can anyone help me place him into a family? Kym ** David & Kym Pitman County Coordinators for Athens Co., Ohio at http://www.newspaperabstracts.com
Okay, thanks! I have several families to add. I will do that as soon as I get a chance. Coral
Carol, It's okay if you don't know where they came from. Perhaps, you could put the earliest time you found your ancestor in Shen. Co.? That's what others have done. Some have left that part blank.
