I knew about a deed from John Corder of Frederick County buying land on Paterson Creek. However I did not know that Edward Corder was also there. There was an Edward Corder who owned land near Opecon. However, I have not been able to connect his line to the ShenCo line. I'm working on finding evidence that will connect them to the Corders in neighboring counties. 3. There are a ton of Corders just over the mountain east of Page Co., VA. Try Fauquier and Culpeper Co. records. The Ruffners were from what is now Page Co., VA (formerly Shenandoah Co). William Corder was in Shenandoah Co., VA in the 1810 and 1820 (Pine Forge twp.) census. I believe Pine Forge is near Smith Creek, just north of New Market, VA. I don't know about owning land in Shen. 3. Robert, Thanks so much for the information. It really helps me to know they lived near what is now Columbia Furnace. Where do I find the topo map that you mentioned? 3. A Sincere THANK YOU to those who responded so quickly to my inquiry, especially to Nancy; Glenn; Shirley; JB and Steve & Yvonne. I had gone through a catalog (disk) of LVA holdings, at our local library, but evidentially missed the pertinent film. I would appreciate it if you would share the microfilm number or other identification so that I might order same. Thanks so mucn.........Eugene

    2. Nancy Corder Halvorson
    3. Hi folks, George Corder was in Joshua Ruffner's Co of Infantry, 6th Regiment VA Militia when he released from the War of 1812. He was discharged from Carn X road which was 120 miles from his home. The Corders did not own land in ShenCo. If I could figure out where Carn X roads was located, it might give me a clue as to where the Corder family lived. So far, my maps and mapping programs have failed to locate Carn X road. Any ideas? Nancy

    3. CA Hacker, May's run shows on topo map for Shenandoah Co. Key in Columbis Furnace VA. and move west along Stony Creek or route 675 till you get to Mays Run on the right of the Stony Creek. Starting at Columbia Furnace intersection at creek and going west...the first drain is Cat Hollow...the next is a road called Johnstown [old Sine Brothers road a local name] and the next break is Mays Run. You will see also Mays Spring. Druck got 70 A. from Rodenheffer and was the south end of the Rodeheffer tract.
