    1. [VASHENAN] "Cumberland" Dilleys (Shenendoah Co, VA)
    2. Christopher Robinson
    3. Thanks to all who refered me to the Dilley web site: http://homepages.rootsweb.com/~tnoye/300.html Below is another web site that was forwarded to me by a lister. I recommend it to all Dilley listers. http://www.swcp.com/~dhickman/dilley/index.htm It seems to have alot of correspondence specific to my Dilley line, although there are some unknown relations as always. It describes two Dilley lines that migrated from Shenendoah Co, VA to Guernsey/Noble Co, OH area. I am descended from the "Cumberland" Dilley line of Jesse Dilley, b. abt 1770 (NJ?). He is found in Shenandoah, VA abt 1810, and moved to Guernsey Co area of Ohio abt. 1839 with his adult sons James (my ggg-father), Jonathan (Judge), Hiram, and Luke. I have quite a bit of info on James' line, but would like to get in touch with any descendants. One descendant, Neville Dilley contributed to this correspondence, but passed away in 1993 in Louisville, KY. Unfortunately, I have been unable to determine his dirrect relation, although he is listed as the gg-son to James. If anyone can help with this it would be greatly appreciated. Also would like further info/contact with descedants of his brothers and if any info has transpired since these correspondences which appear primarily from the early 1990s, in refenece to parents/siblings of Jesse Dilley. Also, it appears the newspaper article entitled "Tales of Old Cumberland" is specific to my Dilley line and I would like to get a copy. It is referenced sevel times in the correspondece, but the is no date or name for the paper. Is anyone familiar with this article? Thanks, Chris _________________________________________________________________ Tired of spam? Get advanced junk mail protection with MSN 8. http://join.msn.com/?page=features/junkmail

    3. Chocy, You should be able to find that property location in Cecil O'Dell's Pioneers of Old Frederick County, Virginia. The main creek in the Fort is Passage Creek; the North Fork is not in there. It is possible that the North Passage you mention is Narrow Passage which is near Woodstock. You can look at www.topozone.com to see some of this, but it might be worthwhile to get the really large scale topo map from USGS (I think they're 7-1/2 minutes). Take a look at the USGENWEB site for Shenandoah Co. and you can find images from Lake's 1885 Atlas of Shenandoah Co. that show a lot of this. 1. [VASHENAN] WILLIAM & CATHARINE RODGERS/ROGERS
    2. I am looking for information on the family of William & Catharine RODGERS of Shenandoah County. William RODGERS was born ca 1718 and came into the valley about 1745. William RODGERS has a deed dated 25 Oct 1750 for 216 acres involved in the Lord Fairfax Suit in 1754. William RODGERS in 1770 is located on North River of the Shenandoah called Elk bottom the bottom above Sassafras bottom. Would anyone know where this is located on a modern map of Shenandoah County? There is an Edward RODGERS born ca 1711 living on land on Blue Ridge as early as 1737 and he is also mentioned in the Lord Fairfax Suit in 1763. Also, would anyone know where the location of the North Fork River in Powells Fort is located? Is the North Passage in the same area? William RODGERS sold this 216 acres to John BUSHONG in 1778. I would like to find the location of this property as well as the family of William and Catharine RODGERS/ROGERS. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Chocy

    3. Rick: Just saw your message. If I'm not mistaken, Joseph Laughlin (aka Bunny Laughlin), was either a major or minor league baseball player of some fame. He and his wife lived on Commerce St in Woodstock. I don't think they had any children. 3. Thanks so much. I'll pass this information on to the daughter of Donald M. Printz, Jr. Donnie was a dear friend who died while in his forties in the mid-1990s. 1. [VASHENAN] Update to Shenandoah County site
    2. Alley
    3. http://www.rootsweb.com/~vashenan/vashenan.html Added Bible pages from Benjamin Blackford's Bible. WOW! The Bible was owned by Ben beginning in 1798 and was contributed by a direct descendant who now owns the Bible, Sally Bruce Blackford McClatchey. http://www.rootsweb.com/~vashenan/blackford_bible_intro.html The entries in the Bible include birth and some death dates and places for the children of Benjamin plus the births of the Negro slaves' children. Benjamin and wife's (Isabella)birth dates are also included. It is rare to receive a "pot of gold" contribution for the site and I thank Sally Bruce so very much for being so generous. More updates are coming soon....well, eventually. :) 'Tis summertime. Don and I are busy with things other than genealogy. There are links to repair and links to add; Confederates have some errors; obits to be added; pictures to add, I think. Please don't think we're ignoring what you contribute just because it isn't on the site, yet. There are over 1000 pages on the site and it is difficult to keep up with the site and still do those things one does on a daily basis. Y'all keep sending us things and we'll keep adding things soon as we find time. I made the Blackford Bible pages a priority because I am a Blackford. :) Alley Blackford Shenandoah County VAGenWeb Co Coordinator alley@tampabay.rr.com
