Composed the following to a newly found related lister and thought I'd forward it on to the list if there are any more relations out there. I believe we are distantly related. I believe my John Robinson, b. 1738 was the older brother to your Benjamin Robinson, b. 1752, both were sons to William Robinson. I have not verified all this history yet, but do have my gggg-father, John Thomas Robinson in an 1840 Hampshire Co., VA census. Households for his sons: Beverly W. (male), John, William, Richard J. [My ggg-father], and Joseph also appear in this same census. I believe your Benjamin may appear here also. There are also an Alcy, Moses, and Thomas listed [I do not know these individuals and would appreciate any info on them]. Please check out this census at: http://www.rootsweb.com/~wvminera/18407.htm I believe My Richard Robinson married Nancy Hook in Hamshire and he and brother Joseph and their father John T. moved to Harrison Co., VA by 1843. The households of Richard and Joseph (with father John T.) are found in the 1850 Harrison Co., VA census. I have the Civil War Military Record for my gg-father, John W. Robinson (son of Richard J.) stating that he was born in Harrison Co., VA in Jan 1843. >From 1850 Harrison Co., VA census: 21st district, enumerated 29 July 1850 Ancestry Image 272 Roll M432_950, Page 135 Robert J. I have many names and fragments, but have not confirmed any relations yet. Also, I do not have any info on sisters to John W. Robinson. John W. relocated to Indianapolis, IN after 1870, then to Louisville, KY abt. 1879. I have a fairly good history on his children and other info to share if you are interested. I would greatly appreciate any additional info you may have on your Robinson line or any branches of related lines. Also any info you might come across on the above Robinsons on you trip to Harrison would be greatly appreciated. Farmer, Does your Francis Robinson have a brother John Robinson by any chance? I am descended from the Robinson line of John Thomas Robinson, b. VA abt. 1779, John T.'s father was also a John Robinson, b. 1738. His father was William Robinson, b. Middlesex Co., VA 1709. John Robinson married a Lucy Smith. Possibly a sister to your Agnes Smith. Look like a strong possibility that our Robinson line could be related. This may tie our Robinson lines to other postings I have seen lately for KY Robinson. By the way, my Robinson line eventually settled in Louisville, KY and I have recently relocated here. Thanks, Chris Please refer to exerpt below: There is a book titled "This Robinson Line" by Viola Robinson Long. On page 47 of this book indicates that there was a William Robinson born in Middlesex Co., VA in March 1709 , who married Agatha Beverly and had 9 children. The following is quoted directly from this book: "Issue of William and Agatha Beverly Robinson: 8.1 John b. 1738, eldest son, M. 1st a Miss Page;m. 2nd (mg. bond dated 24 Nov 1757) to Lucy Smith had two sons who went to Tennessee ca 1800. A third son John Thomas m. Elizabeth Emerson and had issue: Beverly W., Arthur, Samuel, William, Richard, John, and Joseph Lewis. The latter was the father of Mr. P. M. Proposed Legislation on Neglected, Abandoned and Unlicensed Cemeteries in the State of Virginia (Go to this site if you wish to sign the petition.) http://www.petitiononline.com/hnvr2003/petition.html To: Virginia's lawmakers (General Assembly & Senate of Virginia) We the undersigned request the approval of the Proposed Legislation on Neglected, Abandoned and Unlicensed Cemeteries in the State of Virginia. This proposed act, which may be cited as the "Neglected, Abandoned and Unlicensed Cemetery Act" (proposed/noted as Chapter 3, Article 22A, § 57-22A-1), reads in part the following: (a) The care accorded the remains of deceased persons reflects respect and regard for human dignity as well as cultural, spiritual, and religious values. The General Assembly declares that human remains and burial objects are not property to be owned by the person or entity which owns the land or water where the human remains and burial objects are interred or discovered, but human remains and burial objects are a part of the finite, irreplaceable, and nonrenewable cultural heritage of the people of Virginia which should be protected. (b) It is the intent of the General Assembly that the provisions of this chapter be construed to require respectful treatment of human remains in accord with the equal and innate dignity of every human being and consistent with the identifiable ethnic, cultural, and religious affiliation of the deceased individual as indicated by the method of burial or other historical evidence or reliable information. We ask the General Assembly of the Commonwealth of Virginia to approve this proposed legislation to protect all private/family/non-profit cemeteries, particularly those cemeteries which are no longer on property owned by family members, but still frequently visited by family members, researchers, genealogists, and/or historians. These cemeteries contain the remains of Virginia's forebearers. Men, women and children, all who made great sacrifices in a variety of ways to the Commonwealth of Virginia. Many of these cemeteries contain the remains of Native Indians, founders of many areas within Virginia, African-born slaves and their descendants, Revolutionary War heroes and other war Veterans having served in such wars as the War of 1812, War Between the States/Civil War, World War I and even World War II. Please show them the due respect and decency they deserve and approve this proposed legislation so they may, once again, rest in peace. Sincerely, The Undersigned View Current Signatures

..................From information in Supplement by Harry E. Long to be placed with the book "Lindamood Family History" compiled by J. William Harpine"........... Teresa, could you tell a little more about this supplement? Does it deal only with Mr. Long's line? Did you purchase the supplement or find it in a library. The "Lindamood Family History", while quite helpful, is unfortunately riddled with errors and no documentation. Thanks for the help, Michael
I am researching the family of William Craig and Anna Evey. I have been to Richmond and found the death certificate of William which states that his father is David Craig but lists no mother’s name. I have found the marriage affidavit for William which was signed by Michael x (his mark) Lindamood that his grandson William Craig is past the age of twenty one years. This was dated 31 May 1851. William and Anna married 2 June 1851. I have also been told that William’s father was John, but I have found no proof of that either. From information in “Supplement by Harry E. Long to be placed with the book "Lindamood Family History" compiled by J. William Harpine” I have found the possibility that William’s mom was either Sara, Catherine or Elizabeth who was the daughter of Michael Jr., son of Andrew. I am seeking ANY information on William’s parents. Either to confirm, deny or point me in any direction. Any help would be GREATLY appreciated. Thanks! Teresa Harris mtmdsb@aol.com
Hi all, I am looking for information on the family of Albert Runion & Anna V. Beedle. They appear to have lived in the Mount Jackson area of Shenandoah County. I believe that Albert ("Al") was born sometime in the late 1850s. Norman Runyon
Hi Alley & Listers, This sounds like a Trojan Horse called JS.SetPage I had in my computer about 6 wks ago. It arrives in an email, does not need an attachment, just gets in somehow with a regular text message. When you direct your computer to certain sites, the Troj. Horse causes new windows to open, usually graphic, porn sites; and you cannot close them out. This Trojan Horse and other viruses get into Windows systems somehow; (I'm not very computer literate), through a weak place. The downloads for the patches and fixes are free at the Microsoft website. In addition to letting my Norton Anti-Virus program expire, I had never (yes, never) taken the time to download these updates & patches, for my Windows 98. (Boy,did I learn the hard way. I have done both and will continue to keep them updated; thanks Skip, for not saying "I told you so." :o) My ISP also recommended a program that stops pop-ups and it is a free download, at: http://www.panicware.com/product_psfree.html I hope this helps. It appears that Cal's page has been hacked. I'm sure he did not do this himself. You might want to write to him and let him know. When I went to his cemetery page, I got the correct page at: http://www.geocities.com/Heartland/Hills/6230/cemlist.html Someone reported a porn site on one of our pages yesterday. I believe from some other people reserching the Wolfe's that mine may have been in Shenadoah County VA before they went to Logan Cty Ky then to Todd County Ky where George Wolfe died in 1825. Their son Jacob Wolfe b approx 1796 below I believe to be my 3xgreatgrandfather's parents who lived in Rutherford Cty Nc and died in Cleveland Cty NC in 1865 buried first in Old Hopewell Cemetery in Rutherofrd Cty NC, later moved to Beulah Mehtodist Cemetery in Cleveland County NC. Thanks to all who replied to my request for the book: This Robinson Line. Several lister have asked that I share info on where to get this book, so I am post this to the list for all. Many listers suggested InterLibrary Loan, which I have used in the past for other titles and will try again. A couple also suggested the following individual: "Helen Nichols Murphy" <hewick@gvtech.net> I have contacted Helen in the past and sent her two emails this past week, but have not received a response. Just wanted to check that I still have the correct email. I guess she could be away or just behind with email but would appreciate any suggestions. I am also attaching two other suggestions that my help others with this book and also other Robinson info. Please check these out: If you go to www.google.com type in This Robinson Line 1468-1938 and look for this listing under Helen Battelson it tells you how to contact her for this book. Tom, For what it's worth, I have some Ritscharts in my Shenandoah Co. line: Christian Ritschart b. Switzerland, d. Virginia. Married 1733 in Germany to Magdalena Wolff (b. 1703 Switzerland, d. 1766 Penn.) They had a daughter, Elizabeth Ritschart, b. 24 Oct 1738 in Canton Berne, Switzerland. Elizabeth married Jacob Blessing (b. 1728 in Wuerttemberg, Germany), apparently in Germany. Jacob Blessing was naturalized 14 Oct 1765 in Cocalico Twp., Lancaster Co., PA. His will was probated 5 April 1790 in Shenandoah Co. VA. Jacob & Elizabeth Ritschart Blessing had children Jacob, Elizabeth, Catherine, Henry, Abraham, Christina, Magdalena, Lewis, Christian, Barbara, and John. The older ones were born in Germany, the middle ones in Lancaster Co. PA, and John was born in 1770 in Shenandoah Co. VA. Jacob and John Blessing were apparently in Rowan Co. NC in 1790. Jacob, Magdalena (married name Lindamood), Lewis, and John all died in Greene Co. OH. This information came to me in 1987 from Wilda Sweigard, who referred to the DAR as a source (Jacob Blessing served in the revolution). Maybe you can use the dates and places to find some siblings of Elizabeth Ritschart who might have also traveled to Shenandoah Co. Tom, A second reply, if you will accept more speculation. Last night I was tired and didn't pick up the odd spelling. In the 1792 personal property tax there is an Adam Riggart, roughly the same group of neighbors, that is, in the New Market area. As to the spelling, Sheriff Beale is my favorite tax collector, but he couldn't spell German names worth a darn. So, I think the R***art in 1793 is also the same fellow. Now the thing I notice about him is that he doesn't own a horse. He's not a normal farm hand living in someone else's house (Tavener Beale would have recorded that if it were so); he might be a farm laborer with his own house and no horse. But I think it equally likely that he is some sort of industrial worker, that is, a shoemaker, a collier, a miner, etc. since these folks often did not have horses. Couple with the fact that he lived reasonably near Smith Creek, and the fact that you think there is a Germanna connection suggests there might be a tie-in with Pine Forge.
