    3. Thanks Walt for the reply. Just where was Pine Forge? In looking at the 1820 census I recognize several names listed in the Pine Forge dist. such as Isaac Overall who lived some 10-12 miles south of Front Royal but can't figure out the total area encompassed..........Eugene

    3. Nancy do you have access to ancestry. Well in 1920 I found a George "R" Henry 34 wife Carrie 34 -- now his first son was named Richard 14. I figured that the R stood for Richard because he was married to a Carrie. Warren Front Royal. Then (same page) I found William Henry 19 and living with him was a Sallie 60 mother wd. Could this be two of them. If you want I could get all the children and etc and email them ----- Original Message ----- From: Nancy Donak To: VASHENAN-L@rootsweb.com Sent: Sunday, August 24, 2003 7:55 AM Subject: [VASHENAN] MAUCK, DARR, HENRY, LEHEW, CURRY - later of Warren County Looking for someone who can give me some info on DARR and LEHEW of Warren County -- specifically Philip and Lucinda Lehue Darr's (wed 3/6/1836) children - am trying to find out who Sallie Darr (wed William Henry 4/22/1897), Carey Darr (wed Rich Henry), Rosa Darr (wed Edgar Mauck), Thomas Darr (wed Mary Frances Curry) were and how they may have been related. 1. [VASHENAN] Pine Forge District
    2. I know where Pine Forge was but do not know where Pine Forge District was. I would like to know also as I have an ancestor who according to census was living in that area 1820. Since he lived in the Chester Gap area, one would assume that was the area but if it included Pine Forge itself, it was a pretty large area. Walt Peterman

    1. Re: [VASHENAN] Revercomb marriage
    2. Tom Pierce
    3. Joe, That was one of the thoughts I had. I don't know of any Thomas Forrer, however. Christian, Samuel, Henry, and Daniel I know, but not Thomas. Another possibility might be Thomas Farrel, with the l written small. And, of course, there was a family name pronounced "Farr", as in the former police chief of Luray, but I don't think they were around in the early 1800's. I'll save this one till I next get to Edinburg and can look at the bonds. I'm interested, as always, in anyone that ties in with my ironworker families. By the way, I'm thinking about your Clem-Revercomb question. I have several such confusing names in my family tree so it helps me to look at someone else's problem to see if I get ideas about my folks. When did you live up Dry Run? I didn't know there were Bakers there. The only Bakers I knew of lived out at Kimball, and that was a long time ago. 1. Re: [VASHENAN] David Evans - Edinburg Virginia
    2. Ed Evans
    3. I believe David's wife - Sarah - eventually moved to Augusta Co. I have not found any census records or burial information to confirm this. Based on family info, letters and photos, I am quite certain she lived her later years in Weyers Cave with Mahlon Evans. A bit more info regarding Kesiah Evans, in the 1850 census (I can't find the page number right now) for Shenandoah Co near the entry for David (26) and Sarah (19) they show a Joseph Evans (28) and Keziah (38) . Joseph and Keziah have 3 children listed - Anne (18), Hiram (9) and Mahlon (3). The age of these children leads me to suspect Keziah had been previously married. I have been working on a theory that perhaps my Sarah Catherine is a sister to Anne and a daughter to Keziah. Sarah may have listed her mother's current married name. Within the same theory, I wonder if Joseph and David might have been brothers - but I really have no basis for this other than my own suspicion. If my theory is correct, then Sarah Catherine and Mahlon would be 1/2 siblings sharing their mother Keziah. This would also explain some 40 yr old family letters from a cousin in Staunton. One final note - I was given another document copy I believe is from microfilm reel 4 mariages in Augusta Co 1853-1882 that shows Hiram's marriage to Cyntia Long. That record says Hirams parents are Joseph Evans and Keziah Clum (sp?) I certainly appreciate any reply! -ed Subject: Re: [VASHENAN] David Evans - Edinburg Virginia From: Ms2001@aol.co Date: Fri, 22 Aug 2003 22:34:58 EDT To: VASHENAN-L@rootsweb.com David Evans and Sarah Freeman were married on 2 March 1849 - what I think it interesting is that the marriage book says Sarah is the daughter of Kesiah Evans which sounds like this is her second marriage. Robert Lemuel Evans was born June 7, 1869 in Edinburg, VA to David Evans and Sarah Catherine ___. I believe David’s wife was Sarah Catherine Freeman. If so, I think their marriage was March 2, 1849. The 1870 Madison Twp, Shenandoah Co census shows a David 42 with a Sarah 40 with children Joseph 18, Ellen 16 Virginia 13, Alberta 6, and “a no name female” 1. Family stories say Robert Lemuel’s father died when he was a boy. His mother remarried. Because Robert did not get along with his step dad, he left home and moved to Ohio where a brother is said to have lived. The Shenandoah Co web site shows a David Evans is buried in the Downey Cemetery, Edinburg but I don’t know if it is Robert Lemuel’s father. As far as I know, I am not a descendant of the Kiblers, but they intermarried into some of my families. For example, Magdalena, daughter of Henry Kibler, married Jacob Baker, brother of my gg grandfather, Daniel Baker. I am especially interested in the origin (village) of the Kiblers since this information may be helpful in determining the origin of my Alters, Shaffers, Foxes and Moyers who also lived near the Kiblers. My immigrant ancestor, Philip Baker (Johann Philipp Becker) and wife Catharine Gramm, arrived at Philadelphia from Rhein-Durkheim, Germany, near Worms, aboard the Ship St. Andrew on Sept. 23 1752. He was a member of the Frederick County Militia in 1755. In 1762 he receives a Northern Neck Land Grant for 400 acres on Pass Run, which extended westward to near the North Branch of Dry Run. Their religion was German Reformed. The Kublingers/Kiblingers were also from Rhein-Durkheim and were German Reformed. The Shanks also lived near the Kiblers. You may want to check "Schenck, Shenk, Shank, History of the Descendants of Andreas Schenck in America 1732-1984" by Thomas L, Shank. According to Thom (pp. 1-19), Andreas Schenk/Shank was born at Marktlustenau, Baden-Wurrttemberg, Germany on Oct. 3, 1709. He married Rosina Biehlmajer at Crailsheim, Baden- Wurttemberg. Check the above reference for more information on places lived. They arrived at Philadelphia on board of the Ship Loyal Judith on Sept. 25, 1732. Two of their sons, Martin and John, moved to the Pass Run area in present-day Page Co., VA. Their religion was Lutheran. I shall appreciate any information that is found pertaining to the origin of the Kiblers as well as my above mentioned families. Joe Baker
