    1. Re: [VASHENAN] CLARKE COUNTY VIRGINIA
    2. Hi Chocy There has been a missunderstanding over this Clarke County subject. My initial query was about the 1815 landowners in which I asked for Shenandoah County listings for Cline and also 1815 landowners named Clark/Clarke also in Shenandoah County. Glenn Cline

    2. Hi Walt, Yes, it is spelled "Clarke"; sorry for posting incorrect spelling; however, after doing several hours of look-ups I get tired and fail. Guess I'll take a vacation and lurk on the site for awhile. Best regards, Chocy

    1. [VASHENAN] Reuben F. Jennings/Rebecca Lewin
    2. I am searching for information on Reuben F. Jennings born about 1810 in VA who married Rebecca Lewin April 13, 1835 in Shenandoan Co., Va. She was born March 3, 1819 in Shenandoah Co., VA. I believe my great grandmother Sarah F. Jennings born about 1838 to be one of their four children. I would appreciate all the help I can get since I will be out west till spring. Thanks!

    3. I'm amazed at how often Clarke County is misspelled as Clark (Note: The man after whom it was named was spelled Clark). In fact, there is an official Virginia sign on the County line on top of the Blue Ridge Mountain on State Route 7 that misspells it Clark. Wilmer L. On another note, I have Claypool/Chilcott roots in Hardy Co (Va/WVa) back in the early 1800's. Do you have anything on those? Thanks, Judy ----- Original Message ----- From: "Wilmer L. The marriage bond, which I found in a microfilm, shows her guardian was Benjamin Williams. I checked the book that day and she was not listed. Is she listed in this book? She is one of my brick walls. With no record of her parents, and a common name like Wilson, her family has been impossible to find. 3. Dear Judy, My ancestor was Rebecca Reynard, born in Shenandoah County on Nov. 29, 1795 and died in Rockingham County on July 1, 1887. She married Abner Canada (1796-1874) on Sept. 13, 1820 in Rockingham County. I believe that Rebecca's father was George Reynard (signed her marriage license) I am not able to retrieve the file just now, but from memory, he was born in Pennsylvania; came to Shenandoah County and raised a family. Although not absolutely proven, I believe that he was a brother of several Rineharts who settled in Hampshire County. All of the Reynards in Shenandoah County were related, I believe all were descended from George Reynard. Among other children, George had a son named Harrison Reynard who married Susan Morris. I have seen the name spelled Rynard, Reynard, Rennard, Renard, Rinehart. I have encountered Elanson Reynard's name and perhaps collected information several years ago. I am unable to retrieve the information now, because I am swamped with papers from another project (editing a 250th anniversary history of Hampshire County, 1754-2004). I was born and raised in Rockingham County (my mother was from Tenth Legion). Although I have several ancestors (maternal side) in Shenandoah County, I have not completed my own ancestral research. At some point I want to compare notes on our Reynards. Wilmer L. Hi: How are you related to the Reynards? My great grandmother was a Reynard, a daughter of Elanson of Shenandoah County. She married a Downey. I have been researching them off an on and am kind of stuck with his (Elanson's) father. I live in Edinburg VA. Thanks Judy. ----- Original Message ----- From: "Wilmer L. 3. I'm not directly related to the Shenandoah County Reynards but there are several relationship through marriage. I was surprised to learn the correct spelling - I've always heard it pronounced Rinard. Lynnie ----- Original Message ----- From: "Wilmer L.
